Intertrust Expands Kiora to Support VR Content

World’s leading secure content delivery platform for transport and offline locations now supports VR content – now on display at IBC 2017

IBC Amsterdam, NL— September 18, 2017 — Intertrust Technologies Corporation today announced a significant expansion of the Kiora secure content delivery platform to support delivery of virtual reality (VR) content. The extended feature set, known as KioraVR, allows service providers to show multiple VR movies at the same time in locations with little or no Internet connectivity. Intertrust is showcasing the new technology at IBC 2017 at its booth 5.B15.

The Kiora platform is a revolutionary software and hardware system that combines Intertrust’s ExpressPlay secure media monetization platform with a content distribution architecture that can securely distribute content to mobile apps over its own local Wi-Fi network whether or not the Internet is available.

“VR entertainment is moving into the mainstream with the proliferation of high power smartphones and excellent VR headsets,” said Prasad Sanagavarapu, Kiora’s founder and head of Intertrust Kiora. “We’re very excited to add VR support to Kiora to allow secure offline distribution of high bandwidth entertainment products and provide access to this exciting medium to our customers in low bandwidth areas.”

Kiora is an open system allowing a variety of secure media services ranging from sell-through, rental, subscriptions, and advertising. In addition to low/zero bandwidth locations, Kiora can securely deliver all content forms in transport settings such as in on a train, a car, or an airplane. Using Kiora enabled consumers to enjoy the same quality of media as in a persistently connected broadband environment.
