SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 2, 2016 — Intertrust Technologies Corporation, a leader in distributed trusted computing technologies, today announced that it has added Apple’s FairPlay Streaming and Google’s Widevine Modular technologies to its ExpressPlay cloud digital rights management (DRM) system. By supporting these technologies in addition to Microsoft’s PlayReady and open standards-based Marlin DRM, ExpressPlay has become a one-stop, multi-format DRM cloud service for the distribution of premium video, audio, and eBook content over the Internet. The service complies with the highest security and robustness standards set by content creators around the world and is currently used by a wide array of major global service providers.
ExpressPlay with multi-DRM support removes format decisions from the content distribution equation and allows adopters to use a single solution to:
- Distribute content to most major mobile and consumer electronics devices, whether they use Marlin, Microsoft’s PlayReady, Apple’s FairPlay Streaming (FPS), or Google’s Widevine Modular DRM
- Deploy content to all major web browsers, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft’s Edge and IE
- Use native hardware security on devices to deliver premium (HD or UHD) content
“The extension of ExpressPlay to support all major DRM formats is critical to growth in digital content distribution,” said Matthew Glotzer, Intertrust’s Head of Media. “Our goal is to allow service providers and content owners to focus on licensing terms, knowing that the business models are protected by a single solution, irrespective of their target platform. ExpressPlay represents a gold standard for content security, and adopters benefit from frictionless integration and deployment.”
The ExpressPlay platform is backed by Intertrust, the inventor of DRM. Using ExpressPlay, service providers can support multiple formats and devices without lengthy product development cycles. ExpressPlay is easy to license via a one-stop web form that provides access to all DRM formats.Meet us at MWC 2016
