MStar, Intertrust and Rambus Demonstrate an Integrated, End-to-end Security Solution for 4K UHD TVs at IBC 2015

Mstar, Intertrust and Rambus have teamed up to provide 4K UHD TVs with a fully integrated chipset for end-to-end security of content. Mstar’s new chipset – the G6F – comes with a security core from Rambus Cryptography Research and ExpressPlay’s cloud service for Digital Rights Management (DRM). The joint solution provides unparalleled value in terms of security for Ultra High Definition content combined with speed and ease of use. Rambus’ CryptoFirewall ensures that the G6F complies to MovieLabs’ Hardware Root of Trust guidelines, an effort by the big six movie studios to facilitate proper conduct in content protection. ExpressPlay, serving many market leaders in content distribution with our content protection solutions, provides a scalable cloud service that content distributors know and trust. The market for “connected” 4K UHD televisions is growing rapidly and content distributors are trying to keep up. However, the supply of 4K content is lagging today because standards are still being developed. Security of premium content has always been an issue and now with the growing popularity of connected TVs it is more important than ever to provide content owners with the level of security they require and consumers with easy access to 4K content. The Mstar G6F chipset will allow content distributors, including over-the-top (OTT) operators, to deliver 4K UHD premium programming, while satisfying the security requirements of studios and other content owners.
The new system will be demonstrated at IBC 2015 in Amsterdam from September 11-13, Hall 2, Stand A49.
